    Responsible for the building, maintaining, direction and management of a highly motivated and executing Customs brokerage team and the financial success of department. Activities include managing the customs brokerage operation, customer service, new customer implementations, actively engaged in the selling of Schenker’s customs product and the P&L Tasks & Responsibilities: • Manage Customs Department overseeing all daily activities included but not limited to clearance and audit processes in accordance with CBP guidelines, regulation and company policy and client requirements in all areas of the business unit • Develop, implement, maintain procedures, and seek continuous improvements for the department • Provide guidance on Customs laws and regulations to internal, external customers and staff • Ensure accurate and timely service, including financial controls to avoid penalties • Management of Customs Services and team’s performance using KPI requirements and maintain high level results • Maintain visibility and control of operating and work flow systems for proper use, workload management, process flow and timely activities • Manage the Area Customs Center (ACC) P&L and meet or exceed the budget • Identify strengths and weaknesses of the department and work to improve through training and guidance • Select and place highly motivated staff, ensure staff training and define specific job assignments • Manage staff performance to ensure required levels of productivity and organizational objectives are met • Work closely with transportation teams and peer-managers to seek mutual benefiting process improvements to drive productivity and implement best practices • Regular engagement with the sales department to acquire new accounts • Establish strong relationship with internal and external customers • Responsible for implementing new customers and maintain high level of service performance • Research and resolve customer complaints on Customs related and operational issues • Ensure client profiles/SOPs are regularly reviewed, maintained, and centrally located Deliverables & Achievables: • Revenue and gross profit growth, internal controls for profit margin at account level, timely billing, and statement management for the department. • Ensure customs activities are managed timely and in compliance with government regulations. • Achieve or exceed company and customer KPIs. • Grow the account base by supporting the sales organization with new customs opportunities.

    Details/Specification/Explanation of the role specific skills • Capable of managing numerous staff members • Strong leadership and team management skills • Management experience • Capable of managing high volumes of transactions • Licensed customs broker required • Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills required • Significant technical experience in import operations, customs and participating governmental regulations required 


    We offer a competitive compensation package that includes a base salary ranging from $118,788 - $163,333 annually, an annual performance-based discretionary bonus of 15% of salary, and a comprehensive benefits package. Our benefits package includes paid time off and paid sick time in the first year, health insurance, a 401(k) plan, disability insurance, and more as described in our benefits guide. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, performance, geography, and internal equity.  Benefits may be subject to waiting periods and other terms and conditions.
